For this update to Bank of America’s “Avoid Bank Scams” page, I reworked key language to promote clarity, consistency, and user trust in a high-stakes space.
My main focus: renaming the page’s three core steps to make them more memorable and actionable. Rather than defaulting to dry security jargon, I used language that empowered users to spot scams and act decisively—without feeling overwhelmed. I was especially mindful that scammers often count on silence fueled by embarrassment, so I crafted messaging that normalized the experience and encouraged proactive steps without shame.
I aligned every word with our evolving content standards, ensuring tone and voice stayed human while remaining compliant. By simplifying phrasing and reinforcing structure, I helped turn a passive warning into a clear, confidence-building tool that meets users in the moment.
